Brian Golden. Artist

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
-Pablo Picasso

I am a Chicago kid who picked up a pencil in the 80s to draw my favorite super heroes. Having traded in my pencil for a stylus on a tablet – or an acrylic drenched paintbrush on canvas or linen – my art is still a nod to characters that have stories about fairness (or the lack thereof), creativity, responsibility, and a desire for change.

This collection focuses on individuals with platforms in politics and music who embodied talent too all-encompassing for them to handle. Their talent turned into a social burden for change, which was never fully realized and often left them exposed, vulnerable, and unfulfilled.

Whether photo-realistic or impressionistic, I make art about things that make me tick: fairness, responsibility, and change. My work is often about the human experience and the nuances that tend to define us.
